Become a Friend of Stone Laboratory
You can continue to receive the benefits of Stone Laboratory long after your island stay with a membership to the Friends of Stone Laboratory (FOSL).
This non-profit support group donates time and money to assist with the planning and funding of the Laboratory. Since its creation in 1981, FOSL has raised more than $1 million in endowments; bought equipment like microscopes, computers, row boats, and sampling equipment to update the lab; supported scholarships for over 500 students; and funded research assistants and visiting professors.

What do we do?
The Friends perform many activities to support Stone Laboratory and the Ohio Sea Grant College Program. We strive to promote a better understanding of Stone Laboratory's achievements and the use of the laboratory's resources and services, both within and outside the university. We assist with outreach activities to inform the general public on Lake Erie and environmental issues. We have established a number of endowments to support scholarships, equipment purchases, visiting professors, and researchers. We participate in numerous special events that directly benefit the laboratory's research, education, and outreach programs in addition to its facilities.
