A new Lake Erie Beach Guide, created in a partnership between Ohio Sea Grant, the Lake Erie Coastal Ohio National Scenic Byway, and the Cuyahoga County Board of Health, gives visitors to Ohio’s North Coast the locations and amenities of 31 beaches at a glance. The free brochure is available at all Lake Erie area visitors bureaus or by calling 800.368.LAKE.
In addition to a list of features, the brochure includes contact information for county visitors bureaus and the Bathing Beach Monitoring Hotline (866.644.6224) for up-to-date beach conditions. Users of Huntington and Edgewater beaches are also directed to visit www.ohionowcast.info , a website that provides daily water quality information for those locations by 9:30 a.m. Memorial Day through Labor Day.
“The Lake Erie Beach Guide is a means of providing the public and visitors with information about Ohio’s Lake Erie beaches so their beach experience can be fun and safe,” said Jill Lis, Supervisor at the Cuyahoga County Board of Health. “The guide offers details on swimming access, lifeguard availability, where to obtain water quality information, as well as stewardship tips for helping to protect Ohio’s beaches. Everyone has a role in ensuring that Lake Erie remains not only one of our natural resources, but also a Great Lake. This Guide is an opportunity to convey this message.
