The Ohio Sea Grant College Program will be reviewed on May 26-27, 2010 by a Site Review Team convened by the Director of the National Sea Grant College Program. Thanks to the innovative Shrink-Wrap recycling program more than one million pounds of plastic marine shrink wrap have been recycled and made into highway guardrail blocks that help make roadways safer and reduce landfill content.

Fish farmers interested in growing yellow perch may soon have a faster-growing option that could also decrease pressure on wild populations, thanks to Ohio Sea Grant researcher Hanping Wang. By selectively breeding the fish, Wang has developed yellow perch stocks that grow 28% to 42% faster than the typical fish.
